Before academia, Raymond's professional experience included investment banking at JP Morgan (San Francisco, CA), statistical arbitrage at Virtu Financial (Beverly Hills, CA), rates strategist at a global macro fund affiliate of Omega Advisors (San Francisco, CA), and derivatives strategist at Mirae Asset Securities (Seoul, South Korea).
Raymond Kim is currently an Assistant Professor of Finance at the W.A. Franke College of Business at Northern Arizona University. Of his three solo dissertation papers, Raymond's first chapter was Best Paper in Financial Institutions, Semifinalist at the Financial Management Association Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. Raymond has refereed for the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Futures Markets, and Journal of Commodity Markets. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy from the University of California at Berkeley, an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management, and a Ph.D. in Finance from the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management at UC Riverside. His research interests include hedging risk, financial intermediation from a bank's perspective, capital structure, and ESG.
Raymond is married to his wonderful wife, Eunice, and together they have three children, Daniel, Joshua, and Grace. Before his Ph.D., Raymond's interests included playing softball, golf, and snowboarding. Raymond is also a member of the Triple Nine Society.
